Both American Pit Bull Terriers and American Bulldogs were bred in America. Both breeds are working. Pit bulls were developed around 1840. American Bulldogs were bred in the 18th and 18th centuries. Since going into conflict with a person is inherent in their genetics.
Attitude towards children: American Pit Bull Terriers are good with children. American Bulldogs are good with children as long as they do not feel that they may pose a threat.
Relation to other animals: American pit bull terriers were bred two hundred years ago. Then they were used in fights with other pit bulls. At this point, it is normal for a pit bull to be aggressive towards other animals. But in fact, many pit bull terriers do well with other dogs. Breeding lines are very important. There are lines where pit bulls are very loyal to other animals. American Bulldogs can have tense relationships with other dogs. The original American Bulldog standard states that «assertiveness with other dogs is acceptable.»
